Scotch Cap Sale

Home Aims American Herd Breeding Program Diversification Health Status Links News Scotch Cap Sale Contact Us

The news that Doug Hoff was to again disperse his famous Scotch Cap herd in October 2006 was greeted here with some sadness. It was for me however a must attend event, having missed the first sale. It was a tremendous spectacle, with a global attendance, and my thanks must go to John Elliot, Roxburgh Mains, and his son, for their guidance, organisation and advice which led to the purchase of the heifer and cow detailed below. Thanks must also go to BJ Scheirlinck of the BJ Cattle Company who was also a big help and who is now looking after the cattle in Canada. The two females were flushed in 2007, giving 87 grade one embryo's by the 5 bulls listed at the bottom of this page.

Considered by Doug Hoff as one of his top 3 Heifers, she is a full sister to Hoff Epic, who was purchased by Ellis Boyd, Montana. Epic’s semen is currently being sold throughout the USA by Doug Hoff himself. She stems from the same family which also produced Hoff Dynasty.

Hoff Ebony SC660 2131 – link to pedigree

This very young and powerful cow had already made it into Dougs’ embryo transfer program and of the 11 batches of embryo’s sold in October 2006 hers made the top price. She almost ended up going to Argentina and was described by BJ as awesome. She stems from a family which has produced an almost endless list of stock and AI bulls which includes Hoff Great Western, a half share of whom sold for $200,000.
