Of the 12,500 or so registered pedigree Aberdeen-Angus calves born during 2009 in the UK and the republic of Ireland, 445 are from  the North of Scotland.

Of the 445 a credible 31 are ranked by Breedplan as being within the top 5% of the breed for the whole of the UK and Ireland. 13 of these were born at Balaldie. 5 of them in-fact rank in the top 1% for the UK.  3 were born at Balaldie.

 

Self replacing Index

23 calves born in the North of Scotland ranked in the top 5% for the UK and Ireland. 8 were born at Balaldie. 5 of the 23 rank in the top 1%, 4 were born at Balaldie.

 

Milk

Looking directly at milk figures, 9 calves from the North of Scotland fall within the top 1%, 5 were born at Balaldie.

 

 

2008

Of the 12,500 or so registered pedigree Aberdeen-Angus calves born during 2008 in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, 346 are from the North of Scotland (40 herds in Morayshire/Inverness-shire/Ross-shire/Sutherland/Caithness)

Of the 346 a credible 26 are ranked by Breedplan as being within the top 5% of the breed for the whole of the UK and Ireland. 17 of these were born at Balaldie. 4 of them in-fact rank in the top 1% for the UK.  3 were born at Balaldie.

27 calves born in the North of Scotland ranked in the top 5% for the UK and Ireland. 18 were born at Balaldie. 6 of the 27 rank in the top 1%, 3 were born at Balaldie.

Looking directly at milk figures, 10 calves from the North of Scotland fall within the top 1%, 7 were born at Balaldie. Only one other herd in the UK had this many calves ranked as highly.
